Disclaimer

SafeOutside is not an emergency service. It is not a replacement for calling 999 (UK), 911 (US), or your local emergency number. If you are in immediate danger or require urgent assistance, call the emergency services first.

Not a Replacement for Emergency Services

SafeOutside is designed as a safety communication aide for individuals and groups engaged in outdoor activities. It is expressly not intended to replace the emergency services. In any situation involving risk to life, injury, or urgent medical need, you must contact the relevant emergency services directly.

Do not delay calling 999 or 911 in order to use SafeOutside. The app does not connect you to emergency services, dispatch rescue teams, or provide any emergency response capability.

Not a Replacement for Other Communications

SafeOutside is an aide to your existing communications and safety arrangements. It is not a substitute for telling someone your plans, carrying a fully charged mobile phone, using a personal locator beacon (PLB) or satellite communicator in remote areas, or any other precautions appropriate to your activity.

The app relies on mobile data and internet connectivity. In areas with limited or no signal, it may not function. You should always plan for scenarios in which the app is unavailable.

The App is an Aide, Not Your Only Line of Contact

SafeOutside is one way — not the only way — to stay in touch with the people who matter. If you are worried about someone, or simply wish to reach out, call them, WhatsApp them, text them, or contact them however you choose. Do not wait for the app to tell you something is wrong before picking up the phone.

The app is always merely an aide and an additional means of passing on a message that someone is safe. It sits alongside your existing relationships and communication habits — it does not replace them. Personal contact will always be more immediate and more meaningful than any automated status update.

Use at Your Own Risk

Outdoor activities carry inherent risks. SafeOutside does not reduce or mitigate those risks — it provides a means of communication to keep your network informed of your status. Responsibility for your safety remains with you at all times.

The developers and operators of SafeOutside accept no liability for any harm, loss, or injury arising from your use of or reliance upon the app.
