Child Safety & Safeguarding

SafeOutside exists to help people stay safe outdoors. We take the safety of everyone who uses SafeOutside — and especially the protection of children — extremely seriously. This page sets out our standards, how to report a concern, and how we respond.

SafeOutside is for adults (18+)

You must be 18 or over to hold a SafeOutside account. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and do not permit under-18s to create an account. Where families or youth groups may include young people in future, this will only ever be under the control of a responsible adult or a club's own safeguarding framework.

Our standards — zero tolerance

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), and for any content or conduct that endangers children or any other user. The following are strictly prohibited and will result in removal and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement:

How to report a concern

If you see or experience something that worries you, please tell us:

In an emergency, always call 999 first. Suspected child sexual abuse can also be reported to the police, or in the UK to CEOP.

What we do with reports

Reports go directly to our safeguarding team. We review every report and take appropriate action — which may include removing content, suspending or banning accounts, and preserving relevant information. We escalate credible concerns about child safety to the relevant authorities and cooperate with law enforcement where required.

Blocking

You can block any other user at any time. Once blocked, that person cannot share a network with you.
